Kirk Cameron's Unstoppable: DVD Review & Giveaway

It really wasn't what I had expected it to be.  I have a great deal of admiration for Kirk Cameron.  He is almost a novelty in Hollywood.  A Christian, he truly lives out the call of faith and is making monumental strides to bring JESUS to the big screen.

As a teenager, I watched Kirk in Growing Pains (Yes, I'm an 80's girl) and as an adult, Fireproof reminded me that GOD's plan is perfect.  I was excited to review his newest movie, UNSTOPPABLE, but I have to tell you -- it was nothing like I thought it would be.

Definitely a faith-based film, UNSTOPPABLE is for those who grapple with the question of where GOD is when life seems to be falling apart.  I had thought that this would be a good "boy" movie and had planned for my teenage son to be able to watch it with his two best friends.  On a recent road trip, they put it in the dvd player and settled in for the ride.  They watched as we drove -- but only for a short time.  We quickly realized that the material was way too deep to be a travelling video.

Instead, I decided that I needed to watch this one on my own.  And I'm glad that I did.  We all need HOPE.

This independent film is not a feel-good movie . . . nor is it intended to be.  A thought-provoking documentary-styled film, UNSTOPPABLE  is full of pain and agony -- and shares the ups and downs of real-life.  It also points to GOD has the ultimate healer, the provider of HOPE.  Produced by Provident Films, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, UNSTOPPABLE comes from the same family as  Courageous, October Baby, Fireproof, and Facing the Giants.   (You can read more about all of these at ProvidentFilms.org.)

ABOUT UNSTOPPABLE
Inspired by the death of Cameron’s close friend who succumbed to cancer at the age of 15, Kirk Cameron takes viewers on an inspiring and hope-filled visual journey to better understand the biggest doubt-raising question in faith: “Where is God in the midst of tragedy and suffering?”

Going back to the beginning—literally—Kirk investigates the origins of good and evil and how they impact our lives … and our eternities. UNSTOPPABLE will prompt audiences to consider the role that pain and suffering has in our lives, as they affirm their personal views on faith, and encourage conversation starters about God, suffering, and hope.

ABOUT Kirk Cameron
Kirk Cameron is best known for his memorable role as “Mike Seaver,” a cultural icon of the 80's, with his mullet hairstyle, cool glasses, and wisecracking comebacks. More recently he enjoyed much success with the No. 1 grossing inspirational film of 2008, Fireproof, and his recent documentary, Monumental. Kirk and his wife, Chelsea, were on-screen sweethearts during their Growing Pains years and are the founders of Camp Firefly, where terminally and seriously ill children and their families are provided an all-expense paid retreat (www.CampFirefly.com). Together, Kirk and Chelsea live in California with their six children.
