Schoolhouse Review: Zane Education

Photobucket

Okay, I have to be honest here and tell you that this review is one of my absolute FAVORITES . . . ever.  Here's the homeschool product that I didn't even know I needed -- and now I don't want to be without it.  Zane Education is an online subscription of visual learning (educational videos) for students in Kindergarten through 12th Grade that has revolutionized how I teach school.  Truly.  Packed with a variety of videos -- each of which is subtitled and includes study guides and tests -- Zane Education is PERFECT for Long Leaf Academy.

This affordable visual learning solution caters to each individual learning style and offers a wide variety of topics for students to study.  We have enjoyed watching videos of all types this summer and I've already sat down with my lesson plans and included videos that correspond with my curriculum for the entire school year.  There are a multitude of videos that will enhance the learning experience at my house -- from music and art videos to math, science and history videos.  My visual learners will find success actually "seeing" history come to life and my auditory learners will enjoy "hearing" it come alive.

Videos are offered in the following subjects:
  • Art
  • Biology
  • Geography
  • Health
  • History
  • Library Skills
  • Literature
  • Music
  • Religious Studies
  • Science and the
  • Social Sciences
There is simply more information available here than you can imagine -- over 40 pages of video titles in the Zane Education Library that cover more than 260 topics through 15,000+ videos.  The videos offer an in-depth study of just about everything and one of the very best things is that it is available when I need it.  Because it is online, it is available to me 24/7.   I can jump online and start the video for whatever we are studying.  I don't know if you are like me, but often times we would need to stop what we are doing and make a run to the library if there is a topic we've been studying that we want to learn more about.  AND sometimes my good intentions are just that . . . intentions.  With Zane Education, we can spend more time learning and less time gathering supplies.  That's a win in my book.

Zane Education has something for everyone.  My Boy Scout is a Civil War buff and he has enjoyed the entire Civil War series.  The US Geography series has helped my Princess play her state game even better.  With videos listed by subject matter and grade level, it is easy to find just what they want or need.  I have to admit, the History of Crime videos in the Social Sciences have been my favorite.  (I like trying to figure out a good WhoDunIt.)

Zane Education has enhanced our summer studies and I look forward to diving in even deeper this year.  The lesson plans for each video are helpful and the tests help me to measure how much attention my children are paying to the things they are supposed to be learning.  I've included videos from Plants and Animals, American History, Greek Mythology and The Life and Works of William Shakespeare (just to share a few) in my lesson plans and I'm positive we'll continue to add to the list as the year progresses.  Such an easy way to include so much, Zane Education is a homeschoolers dream.  I'm thrilled to recommend this great teacher's helper to you.  (Your students will also have access to an Encyclopedia, a Thesaurus, a Dictionary and a World Fact Book to enhance their study.)

Photobucket Offered as monthly or annual subscriptions, Zane Education can be molded to fit any budget -- and in keeping with the spirit of the Olympics, subscriptions can be purchased on Bronze, Silver and Gold levels.  The Bronze level costs only $8.99 a month or $98.99 for the year (you receive a free month when you purchase an annual subscription) and the Gold level (which covers absolutely everything on the website) costs $17.99 a month or $197.89 for the year.  It really is a great deal for any homeschool budget due to the huge amount of topics covered.  BUT here's something to sweeten the deal even more:  From now until the end of August you can use this code ZE279HSM and receive 35% off of your membership.

  1. Glowing review - I can tell you liked this program. We plan to incorporate their videos into our lessons this fall, too.
