Can You Dig It?

I love history and I especially enjoy watching it come to life for my children.  In the past, we've made sugar cube pyramids, built boats out of reeds, dressed up in costumes, made and eaten hardtack and acted out epic battles.  During the unusual cold of the last few weeks, we've even been participating in an archaeological dig at Roman Town!

The McBlessings and I have had a lot of fun reviewing and playing with Roman Town by Dig-It! "I like how when I was digging I was having fun but I was also learning about how the Romans lived and how they would have done things and how it was so different from how we do things today.  The games they played were kind of similar to things we play today---but not really the same.  I learned that it takes A LOT of patience to be an archaeologist! Digging was the MOST FUN thing. Writing the reports at the end of the dig was the hardest part--having to figure out which word went where and making sure I understood what the words meant.  I had to pay attention to what I was learning while I was digging."
