Accounting Made Easy!

Learn Financial Accounting in four simple steps?  Absolutely!  A first accounting course for home educated high schoolers, students who use Financial Accounting by Professor in a Box have the opportunity to learn to prepare and interpret the four basic financial statements used in businesses.   Students use the following steps to help them learn:

  1. Watch the lectures found on the discs.

  2. Complete the homework problems.

  3. Check the solutions.

  4. Take the exams.

A college level course for home educated students, Financial Accounting is a four-disc set that comes ready to begin. The only prerequisite is a basic math class.   The discs cover 28 lessons contained in 12 chapters---complete with lecture slides, demonstration problems, homework problems, answer guides and tests.   Students begin with an Introduction to Accounting, Financial Statements and The Accounting Cycle and continue through Liabilities, Assets, Inventories and Financial Statement Analysis.  Designed to take about 75 minutes per lesson, the class can be broken down into smaller time periods based on what works best in your family.

Our oldest daughter is a High School Junior this year and when Financial Accounting arrived at our home, she was excited to get started.  It has been a great fit for my family.  Taught in a non-traditional format, the oldest McBlessing only had to insert the first disc into the computer to start the class.

Here's what she had to say:  Financial Accounting has been an interesting class.  The teacher is easy to understand.  This course has offered a pressure-free environment for me to study with the easy access "pause" button.  With the rewind button, I can listen to the lesson as many times as I need to.  It is highly convenient.  Professor Licata is easy to understand and easy to listen too.  He explains the concepts very well so I "get" what he is teaching me.  I enjoy sitting down to the challenge of Accounting and am really learning some neat stuff.

On the professional level, Professor Michael P. Licata is highly qualified to teach Financial Accounting.  He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Accounting in the Villanova School of Business at Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania.  BUT even better, in my opinion, is the fact that Professor Licata is a homeschool dad--so he understands the learning environment for my children and knows how to make accounting work for us.

Financial Accounting sells for $99.95  and can be ordered here.  This ready-to-go curriculum comes with a 30-day Money Back Guarantee--students simply work through the first three chapters and if not completely satisfied, return it for a full refund--including shipping.   Professor in a Box also has a Principles of Marketing course and will soon have one entitled Entrepreneurship.  Both of these courses look like they would make great additions to any homeschool!

~~I was given the opportunity to use and review Financial Accounting by Professor in a Box.  The opinions stated are mine and mine alone.  I was not paid to share my thoughts and feelings with you.  You can check out the Crew Review and see what other members of the TOS Homeschool Crew thought of Financial Accounting.~~ Pin It Now!
