Homeschool Review: Kid Niche Christian Books #hsreviews #tweensbiblestudy #prayer #biblecurriculum

I am involved in a discipleship group with two other ladies and we hold each other accountable to studying GOD's Word, learning Scripture, and journaling.  We meet together weekly to discuss our Bible study and pray over what GOD is doing in our lives and how HE would have us serve those around us more effectively.  That Monday afternoon Bible study and prayer time is one of my very favorite times of the week and I have been looking for ways to replicate it with the tweens in my life.  Specifically written with students in the 4th-6th grades in mind, Weave Your Word in Me -- Part 1 is perfect for training children to be true disciples of CHRIST.  Kid Niche Christian Books offers a new approach to teaching children how to have a real relationship with JESUS through prayer and I'm excited about sharing it.  I appreciate author Susan Case Bonner's heart in training up children for a lifetime of JESUS.

Weave Your Word in Me -- Part 1 is a 78-page Bible study inspired by the LORD's Prayer and is compatible with six different translations of GOD's Word.  In the full-color study guide, you will find answer keys for the King James Version, the English Standard Version, the New International Version, the New King James Version, the New American Standard Version, and the New American Bible Revised Edition.  Designed to help tweens really get a grip on who GOD is and how they can feel comfortable talking to HIM themselves, Weave Your Word in Me -- Part 1 leads students through a kid-friendly rhythmical prayer and study that is modeled after the LORD's Prayer as it takes them through a journey of both the Old and New Testaments as they learn about GOD.

No hard-to-find supplies are needed for students to begin learning about how much GOD cares for them.  After gathering their Bible, a pencil, and a dictionary, students are able to dive right in to the Weave Your Word in Me study.  It is printed on a nice, weighted paper and comes ready for easy placement into a 3-ring binder -- the holes are pre-punched and the cover is provided.  This is HUGE to me as I'm just a bit of a paper and binder nerd.  I like being able to color code binders and the very fact that this study included a cardstock cover and came punched and ready to go in a binder makes me super happy.

Written directly to the reader, Weave Your Word in Me instructs children HOW to do Bible study.  I am especially pleased that the steps of Bible study are broken down for individual ownership.  The instructions explain that this Bible study guide is for those with a teachable heart and it shares how to begin in prayer, how to read the Bible passages listed and answer the questions to make sure that you understand what you've read, and how to pray to GOD.  Children are encouraged to really enjoy getting to know GOD and spending time with HIM as HE weaves HIS Word in them.  Don't you just love that?  This is a perfect foundation for a lifetime of fellowship with GOD and a skill that many adults have not yet mastered.  I love that Susan Case Bonner has made it available to children.

Weave Your Word in Me -- Part 1 consists of 36 lessons laid out in a super kid-friendly format.  Each lesson runs from 1 - 3 pages long and is made up of Scripture readings, fill-in-the-blank and short answer questions, and a prayer guide.  The prayer guide serves as a review of what was studied in the Bible and turns into a personal prayer for children.  Y'all!  I just can't explain enough how much I love this.  One of the biggest problems that my middles schoolers share with me is that they don't understand how to relate what GOD's Word tells them with the life they live.  They have a hard time connecting "Bible times" to today.   Weave Your Word in Me helps them make the connection.  After reading Scripture, they immediately fill in the guided prayer that takes the lesson they've just studied and puts it into prayer format so that they can SEE how GOD's Word applies to them TODAY.

I'm sharing one lesson with you in the picture below.  How about if we look at it together so you can see how it works?

In the lesson pictured above, you can see that we are learning that GOD loves children.  Isn't that a great lesson for kids?  Don't you want them to know that GOD loves them no matter what?  We begin by reading the Bible Truth found in Psalm 127:3.  It says "Children are a gift from the LORD; they are a reward from HIM."  What a beautiful affirmation for a child to read.  Who doesn't like getting a present?  Children realize immediately that they are special because they are a gift from GOD.

Next, we read the Bible study passage for the day.  Mark 10:13-16 says "One day some parents brought their children to JESUS so HE could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering HIM.  When JESUS saw what was happening, HE was angry with HIS disciples. HE said to them, 'Let the children come to ME. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of GOD belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of GOD like a child will never enter it.'  Then HE took the children in HIS arms and placed HIS hands on their heads and blessed them."  After reading this passage, children fill in the blanks using the word bank provided.  This helps them remember what they've read.  Finally, children complete the sentences in the My Prayer box.  This correlates to the Bible passage they have read and works to bring the Scripture into their world.   After reading that GOD sends children as a present and that JESUS welcomed children to come to HIM, it is easier for our children to see that GOD understands them and is never too busy to listen to their needs.  Really, y'all, this is a great way for children to see the relevance of the Bible to today's times.

There are pictures to draw and color throughout the Study Guide and there are multiple enrichment activities online that go with each lesson.  These include hands-on activities, videos, songs, art projects and more.  To say that this is a comprehensive study and prayer guide doesn't even scratch the surface because it truly lays the groundwork for your child's spiritual growth and development for their lifetime.   This is a great resource for ministry, for school, for home, for life.
