The Sparkle Egg -- Review and Giveaway #ShareAMoment

I like tradition.  There are special things we do each year that I pray my children will remember forever and share with their own children one day.

We've made Resurrection eggs to tell the Easter story in a very hands-on way and have baked Resurrection Cookies (a special hollow cookie that walks you through the Scripture of the Easter story) to bring it to life.  Dyeing eggs is a family favorite -- at least a dozen per person -- and special egg hunts are a given.

This year, we are adding specially decorated Sparkle Eggs to our holiday celebration -- a perfect reminder of GOD's GRACE and MERCY.  An idea born out of the new children's book, The Sparkle Egg, this delightful read is the perfect complement to our family traditions.

About The Sparkle Egg
Easter is coming, and Sam loves Easter.  But this year, he is upset about a lie he told his parents.  Even though he apologized and they forgave him, Sam can’t shake the feeling that he is a bad kid for what he did.  Meanwhile, his parents help him make a special Easter craft called a Sparkle Egg.  His mom tells him to write anything he feels sorry about or ashamed of on a piece of paper and put it inside his Sparkle Egg.

On Easter morning, when he opens his Sparkle Egg expecting a surprise, Sam finds that it is empty! His parents explain that because JESUS died and rose again, we are FORGIVEN.  Like the tomb that first Easter Day, Sam's egg is empty—and Sam’s wrongdoing is completely forgiven.  Once he accepts this forgiveness fully, Sam realizes a truth:  we can sparkle and shine with GOD’s light when we let GOD’s gift of GRACE into our hearts.  This touching story will strike a deep chord with readers of all ages, and the Sparkle Egg tradition will help readers and their families grasp the totality of GOD’s perfect GRACE -- and isn't that what it's really all about?

The Sparkle Egg was written by Jill Hardie and illustrated by Christine Kornacki.  Together, Jill's words and Christine's pictures offer an engaging story for children to experience.  This 32-page hardcover book (with protective jacket) measures 10 x 10 and is sturdily constructed for years of family reading.  I know we will be reading through its pages for quite a long time.
Perfect for children (and adults) of all ages, The Sparkle Egg is a book that traditions are made from. I know you will lovingly pass down this legacy for generations to come as you prepare to #ShareAMoment with your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

  1. Sounds like the start of another GREAT Easter tradition. Here it's hiding eggs and finding them over and over. First the adults hide them and the kids find them and then we turn the tables and let the kids hide them and the adults TRY to find them!

  12. We attend church services, as we do every Sunday. We have a fellowship meal with family and friends, an egg hunt (or sixteen), and fun going through baskets of some goodies which always includes a new Easter related book.

  16. I remember sweet childhood trips to "the camp" at Easter. We didn't have cell phones then so we truly left our day to day troubles behind when we went there. My parents bought bags of candy for the trip which was also so uncommon at home. One year we made homemade chocolate candies. On Easter morning, we got up early for the sunrise service at Hodges Garden. Sweet memories. We are going back this year. So much has changed, but I hope it is also a time that for my kids looking back is also sweet memories.
