Johnny Cakes and George Washington

I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.   Psalm 77:5

I remember the days of old.  I ponder all YOUR great works and think about what YOU have done.   Psalm 143:5

Delight-directed and hands-on learning . . . I love it.  Breakfast today was Johnny Cakes served with homemade Apple Butter and Yellow Label Syrup -- yummy.   There's nothing like an almost authentic meal to bring history to life.  {There was no molasses in the house so syrup had to do, but no one seemed to mind.}

Of course, we didn't have to grind our own corn or chop wood to start a fire to heat up our frying pan like they did long ago, but we did enjoy this simple food in the comfort of our own home.  And everyone seemed to really like it.

Life is good at Long Leaf Academy.  May we be found ever faithful.

Remember the days of long ago; think about the generations past.  Ask your father, and he will inform you.  Inquire of your elders, and they will tell you.     Deuteronomy 32:7
