And the Princess takes the Kitchen by Storm

It's Thursday and that means the Princess is in charge of supper.  We are about to head out on a full afternoon with our Keepers of the Faith kick-off, our Lego League kick-off, Girl Scouts and Soccer practice.  Lucky for us, the Princess had a crock-pot meal on her menu for today.  When we come in from Soccer, all she will have to do is bake cornbread and put the rice in the cooker.  Everything should be done about the time we've cooled off and set the table.  The MainMost may even make it home in time to eat with us tonight.  YAY!

Here's what she's cooking tonight:

Grandma Betty's Golden Onion Cubed Steaks

1 package cubed steak
flour
salt and pepper, to taste
2 cans Golden Mushroom Soup
2 cans French Onion Soup

Salt and Pepper cubed steak to taste then coat with flour.  Lightly cook in iron skillet until both sides are golden brown.  Place cubed steak in crock-pot and cover with soups.  Ours will be cooking on low until we get home -- about 5 hours.  Serve over rice.  (We'll be using a new purple rice I found last week - grown semi-locally, I think it will be a nice addition to our meal.)

The Princess also plans to have steamed broccoli with our meal.  It should make for quite a pretty plate.  I can't wait to taste it all.
