The Person I Marry

Photobucket

Like most of you I'm sure,  I started praying for the spouses of my children as soon as they were born. I know that the day will come when each of my children will find the ONE person that GOD has planned for them to spend the rest of their lives with and we began talking about that early on . . . when they were very little.   It's NEVER to early to start talking to your children about who they will marry.

The Person I Marry is a most beautiful book for you to share with your children as y'all discuss who GOD has planned for their future.  Parents Gary and Jan Bower (he's the author, she's the illustrator!) have a successful marriage of 32 years and are blessed with 12 children.  What a wonderful wealth of love from which to write a book!  Filled with all of the characteristics that help marriages succeed,  The Person I Marry is a great reminder of who we all should be.

A few years ago, my Senior starting writing letters to her Future Husband in a special notebook.  She shares her heart and writes down the things that make her who she is with plans to one day give it as a wedding gift to the man to whom she says "I do."  As part of our homeschool day, each of the kids spends time reading books on purity and dating and relationships with the opposite sex.  The Person I Marry makes an excellent addition to our home and to our hearts.

Purity is one of the really big things we talk about here.  The world tries to trick our children and steal their innocence.  We aren't going to let that happen.  How I love these lines from the book:

And I expect my lifelong mate

to know some things are worth the wait.

So, by the grace of GOD, I'm sure

We'll both succeed in staying pure.

My children are 10, 12, 15 & 17 and we all really enjoyed reading and learning from The Person I Marry.  It is a wonderful book and I plan to give copies of it as wedding gifts in the future.  Children of all ages (2 - 102) will count this a  blessing in their libraries.

A beautifully illustrated, 32-page hardcover book, The Person I Marry can be purchased from Bower Books for $11.99.  It is part of their "Bright Future Series" and was awarded the 2010 Book of the Year by the Christian Small Publisher Association.  You can purchase your very own copy HERE (but I'll just forewarn you that you'll probably want to go on and get a copy for each of your children -- it's just that good!).
