The Biggest Story: How the Snake Crusher Brings Us Back to the Garden {a book review & giveaway} #biggeststory #flyby

For as long as I can remember, I have been a reader and collector of beautifully written and illustrated books.  I love books of all types, but children's books have always been my very favorites.  I especially like books that point children's towards JESUS.

The Biggest Story: How The Snake Crusher Brings Us Back to the Garden is a fabulous book that meets all of my criteria.  It is well-written and stunning to look at, but the most important thing about it is that each and every word shares JESUS.  Divided into 10 chapters that begin in the Garden of Eden and end with the promise of the return of our KING, children and the adults who teach them about HOPE and FAITH and PEACE are continually reminded of the absolute LOVE that GOD has for them all as they read through its pages.

The Biggest Story helps makes sense of the Bible as it weaves stories from both the Old and New Testament together and connects them in a way that makes perfect sense of GOD's plan for us all.  Like David, we are all sinners who mess up in some really big ways.  The good news for us is that GOD loves us and has a plan to redeem His people.  Children can see the "big picture" of the Bible as they read and re-read the book -- and that's HUGE.  I know many, many adults who don't quite understand how all of GOD's Word fits together.   How wonderful that children can begin to grasp the wonders of GOD early and cling to HIS promises!

So much more than a storybook, The Biggest Story shares truth and offers HOPE in such a way that both young and old will understand that "our story is the story of GOD doing what we can't in order to make up for us doing what we shouldn't."    Boy, oh boy, does GOD love us!   This is exactly what I want to share with the children in my life -- both at home and at church.

About the book:  Published by Crossway on August 31, 2015, The Biggest Story:  How the Snake Crusher Brings Us Back to the Garden is a sturdy, hardcover book (which means your children will be able to read and enjoy it for many years to come).  The 132 pages are beautifully illustrated and will draw your entire family together as you share the stories from its pages.  This is exactly the kind of book you will want to pass from friend to friend and from generation to generation.

You'll want to make sure that you start in the back of the book where the Note to Parents explains that The Biggest Story began as an advent lesson during a children's sermon and becomes a treasured member of the family.  The beauty that is the story of just how much GOD loves HIS children truly is the greatest story ever told.  That's what I pray my own children understand more than anything else.

In The Biggest Story, Kevin DeYoung -- a best-selling author and father of six -- leads kids and parents alike on an exciting journey through the Bible, connecting the dots from the garden of Eden to CHRIST's death on the cross to the new heaven and the new earth.  With powerful illustrations by award-winning artist Don Clark, this imaginative retelling of the Bible's core message -- how the Snake Crusher brings us back to the garden -- will draw children into the biblical story, teaching them that GOD's promises are even bigger and better than we think.
