SUMMER READS -- July BlogChallenge #bloggingthroughJuly #summerchallenge

Oh, boy howdy this summer is halfway over and I don't think I've even read one book.  There are several things on my "I should read" or "I want to read" list+, but it's been a busy few months and I'm not doing so well in the "I read" category.  That said, the next three weeks are a little bit less hectic and I'm hoping to complete a few books.

I find that I read in spurts.  I can read two or three books at a time and then it may be a month or more before I pick up another.  Then there are the books that I want to read with my kids -- books they need to read for upcoming literature courses and books that we need to read because we'll be seeing the plays this coming school year.  If at all possible, I like for us to read books before we see the play.

Here's what's on my list for "What's Left of the Summer" Reads:

With all the hype surrounding the new book by Harper Lee, I thought it was time to re-read this one.

Review coming soon!

Just for fun

Here are the books we'll be reading before we see the plays:

  1. Crimes of the Heart
  2. A Time to Kill
  3. A Wrinkle in Time

And here are the books coming up in our Illuminating Literature Course:

  1. Pudd'nhead Wilson -- we start this one on Monday
  2. The War of the Worlds
  3. The Friendly Persuasion
  4. Peter Pan
  5. Warriors Don't Cry
  6. A Tale of Two Cities
  7. Fahrenheit 451
  8. The Screwtape Letters

A friend of mine is doing the Books on the Nightstand Book Bingo this summer -- and I may just join her.  You know, I like a challenge.

  1. Oh I forgot to put the Harper Lee books on my list! I do plan to re-read To Kill A Mockingbird before reading the new one too.

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your heart with me!
