I find that I read in spurts. I can read two or three books at a time and then it may be a month or more before I pick up another. Then there are the books that I want to read with my kids -- books they need to read for upcoming literature courses and books that we need to read because we'll be seeing the plays this coming school year. If at all possible, I like for us to read books before we see the play.
Here's what's on my list for "What's Left of the Summer" Reads:
With all the hype surrounding the new book by Harper Lee, I thought it was time to re-read this one. |
Review coming soon! |
Just for fun |
Here are the books we'll be reading before we see the plays:
- Crimes of the Heart
- A Time to Kill
- A Wrinkle in Time
And here are the books coming up in our Illuminating Literature Course:

- The War of the Worlds
- The Friendly Persuasion
- Peter Pan
- Warriors Don't Cry
- A Tale of Two Cities
- Fahrenheit 451
- The Screwtape Letters
A friend of mine is doing the Books on the Nightstand Book Bingo this summer -- and I may just join her. You know, I like a challenge.

Oh I forgot to put the Harper Lee books on my list! I do plan to re-read To Kill A Mockingbird before reading the new one too.
