Schoolhouse Review: Bible Study Guide for All Ages

If you know me at all, you know there are some things that just make me happy.  One of those happy things in my life is good Bible study for all ages.  As a Preschool, Children's, and Middle School Minister, I like finding great resources to teach GOD's Word to children and help them hide it deep in their hearts forever.  You can imagine my delight when my friends started sharing a comprehensive Bible study curriculum that would do just that.  Bible Study Guide for All Ages is a wonderful way to bring children of ALL ages together to learn just how awesome our GOD is through a complete study of the Bible -- choosing to use both Old and New Testament passages [together] in order to give a thorough overview of the BIG PICTURE.

Written from a non-denominational standpoint so that any one can jump right in, Bible Study Guide for All Ages is the brainchild of Mary Baker -- a mom of four who was looking for a great Bible curriculum for her own children and wrote her own in order to fulfill what was needed.  And the best part?  She was willing to share it with us.  You can read the complete STORY of how it was developed and understand the core values behind her desire to see children read and understand the Bible for themselves.  I know you'll be as impressed as I am.

Bible Study Guide for All Ages offers curriculum for students ages 3 - Adult.   What I am most impressed with is that while using the resources offered, each and every family member can sit down TOGETHER to study and learn and explore.  The Bible truly does come to life when we study it and I want my children (and all of the children in my ministry areas) to develop a desire to be IN GOD's Word.  I want them to hunger and thirst for HIM and I desire for them to walk in a close relationship with HIM.  I KNOW that Bible study is the key to those things.

Each set of student pages comes in a package of 26 lessons.  The lessons are on large double-sided sheets of paper that are attached at one end.  You an easily tear off the lesson as you prepare to use it -- or leave them attached if you prefer.  Each set costs $5.95 and there are a total of 104 lessons per year.  You can purchase a set at a time (as you need them) or you can purchase Starter Packs for each level ($63.20 Basic or $138.32 Premium).  The grand total of 416 lessons will take you through FOUR years of intensive Bible study.  As in, your students will have read and studied and fallen in love with the ENTIRE Bible upon completion.  How cool is that?

So, what makes the Bible Study Guide for All Ages unique from any other Bible curriculum resource available?   What I like is that all students can study the exact same Bible passages at the exact same time -- and no one is left behind.  The Beginner Student Pages for children age 3 - Kindergarten cover the same material as the Advanced Student Pages for children in 5th and 6th grades but on a level that is easily understood for each.  While Beginners are coloring pictures that portray the Bible lesson, Advanced students are filling in blanks.  BOTH are reading (or listening to) the same exact scripture passages.  this makes it super easy to sit down as a FAMILY and spend time in GOD's Word together.  AND whichever translation of the Bible YOU prefer is perfect.  As a matter of fact, Bible Study Guide for All Ages lends itself to your studying from several different translations together to really get a feel for what the Bible says.  At my house, I prefer the New Living Translation but my 19-year-old likes the New International Version.  My 14-year-old likes the Message.  I just like that we are all reading.  So, we can sit together and study and share what each of our translations says.  This opens up great discussion and deeper understanding.

photo bible-book-summary-cards_zps28dfa8ff.jpgOne of my very favorite parts of the Bible Study Guide for All Ages resources is the Bible Book Summary Cards.  These cards can be purchased in color (8 1/2 x 11 flash cards) or as black and white posters (11 x 15) to be colored by students.  Either choice is $24.95 for a set of 66 cards (one for each book in the Bible).   The colored flash cards are printed on a heavy cardstock for great durability.  They contain pictures that represent each book that helps give students visual cues to remember the books.  On the back side of the Bible Book Summary Cards there is a description of the pictures chosen to represent the book AND there are questions to be used as review when learning the Bible books and committing them to memory.  I LOVE this idea.  We are set to start Bible Drill again at church on September 1 and this is the perfect tool to help children and youth remember the books of the Bible and the role that each book plays in the overall story of GOD.  I'd be thrilled to get these in the hands of every student in my ministry areas.  They are that important.

Bible Study Guide for All Ages truly offers something for everyone.  From beginner timelines and Bible-based children's songs for the littlest learners (although we ALL like to sing) to student pages and summary cards for the older set, this is a NEAT way to spend time in the GREATEST  STORY EVER TOLD.   Make sure to check out the website and see just how your family can benefit.
