When JESUS Was a Green-Eyed Brunette (Book Review & Giveaway) #JesusGreenEyedBrunette #FlyBy

So, the truth of the matter is I just didn't want to read this book when I was first asked.  It's a crazy time of the year AND we are planning a wedding for New Year's Eve and I just didn't think I had time.  I mean, I WANT to love people like GOD does, really I do, and I have to admit that the title was kind of intriguing, but I just didn't have time.  And I wasn't sure that I could find the time OR make the time.  So I waited and waited and thought I just would say no.

Then, I was asked again and it seemed GOD wasn't going to let me walk away from it.  Oh, boy, does HE always know just what I need, or what?  When the book arrived, I sat down for a quick skimming and thought I'd just look over it quickly and then put it down and pick it back up later.  An HOUR later, I was still reading and I absolutely COULD NOT put it down.  Seriously, it's just that good.  It bends me and stretches me and makes me laugh and makes me cry -- sometimes all in the same sentence.  What I like is that author Max Davis is real and points out that JESUS doesn't always look like our Sunday School version of HIM did.  HE loves us just like we are and HE beckons us to HIS side.  Max is real and shares how GOD works through even the messy and messed up lives that we lead.  Max shares his journey -- and reminds us that we all have a crazy, out-of-the ordinary, not-so-easy journey of our own -- and that's okay.  GOD is there . . . loving us . . . every single step of the way.

Another thing I like?  Max Davis lives close enough to me that we could be neighbors.  How neat is that?

Please, please, please do yourself and your heart a favor and read When JESUS Was a Green-Eyed Brunette.  It's a heart-changer.  See HIM for who HE really is.  JESUS with skin on -- every day of every week of every month of every year of our life.

About the Book:  When JESUS Was a Green-Eyed Brunette weaves heartwarming and miraculous stories of JESUS showing up in ordinary people, revealing that HE knows us and is fully present in our everyday circumstances, especially in our difficulties.  Those hurting and weary from worn-out religion are longing for a fresh touch from the living JESUS.  Best-selling author Max Davis challenges us to do more than simply receive GOD’s grace—we need to allow grace to soften, change, and shape us.  As you read this book you will laugh, cry, and come face-to-face with the living JESUS, much like Davis did, when he found HIM living in a green-eyed brunette.  As Davis puts it, “JESUS is very much alive today and still does incredible things—sometimes supernatural things—through us!”  List price: $15.99, 208 pages

About the Author:  Max Davis is the author of over 20 published books and has been featured in USA Today and Publishers Weekly and has appeared on The Today Show and The 700 Club.  He holds degrees in Journalism and Biblical Studies and is a much sought-after speaker for churches and organizations worldwide.  He and his wife, Alanna, live on 50 beautiful acres in Greenwell Springs, Louisiana.

  1. I am now bummed I didn't review it. I was in the same spot you were. Debating whether to do it or not. I ended up not. Glad you liked it though.
